I currently have my EX grounded via one of its unused RCA ports to a Nordost QKORE. I am thinking of instead trying to ground to the unused USB Audio out (5V OFF) port on my EX, per photo attached. The “5V ON” USB Audio port on my EX is in use, providing the digital audio signal to my DAC…
I had enquired with Nordost first, and it sounds like this is safe per response below. I’m curious if anyone would have insight on the part I’ve italicized in their response …? Perhaps @MarkCole you can comment?
“It should be fine to use the USB but I don’t know that unit at all nor how the ports are internally wired. Meaning are they on the same signal both and coupled or are they separate? The Qkore cable is only touching the ground and not signal so it should be fine. You are correct, trying to grab the digital circuit instead of analog should be an improvement.”
