Well, it goes back to the beginning, when I bought my K22 from the then UK dealer. I had a lot of trouble and thought I must be stupid, so hesitated to ask for help. When I did, the Antipodes tech support said he was bewildered by what he found. He thought it might be a show model with beta software, although I bought it as new, full price. I should at that point have demanded the dealer replace it, but Antipodes tech support went to so much trouble and seemed to have sorted things. And I have to emphasise that when things are working (as they are at present) the music sounds wonderful. I’m just hoping V6 brings back the flexibility.
That’s a shame and sorry you’ve had that experience. But as you’ve discovered Antipodes bends over backwards to help end users and, as you say, hopefully everything will get sorted out for you with the next update.
I’m sure they’ve already run through all the trouble shooting steps with you but for sure your issue is not typical. Good luck going forward mate.
You’re right - the amount of highly skilled labour (on Prince’s part) that has gone into temporary fixes for these problems must have long ago wiped out any profit on the sales. I look to the sunny uplands of V6!
Success today, and yes, Squeeze takes off some of the high end sharpness I experience with JPlay (YG speakers are a bit unforgiving there). I should also say I think I have discovered where my problem lies with switching between apps - I was making dashboard changes at my desktop and then finding they hadn’t shown on my iPad. I needed to shut down the iPad completely, and restart - the change of app then gets shown. At the moment all is sweetness and light and frustrations forgotten!
I’m glad you got it sorted out. However, while I agree it’s important that there uniformity with each device. I’ve never had to shut down my iPad at all. I just make it a point to make sure that every device is set to the same app. I find overall there is excellent continuity between the three devices I use, which would be my Mac, iPad and iPad mini. On occasion, there is a conflict, but I try always to make sure that each device is on the same server to avoid the possibility of such conflict. It is interesting that often times if I simply focus on the Squeeze player, I noticed that whatever is playing on one device is playing on the other device, and this is a property that does not exist at all with Jplay. Jplay does not have the ability to unify content and playback material like Squeeze so everything is essentially device specific with Jplay.
I find that the two apps are very close in sound quality, but for whatever the reason I really struggle with Jplay to get cover art in the artist section. Albums, no problem at all, but scrolling through artists many lack cover art, but when I select the artist a photo of the artist appears along with the expected cover related to each respective album. It’s weird and for me unresolvable.
