1M USB -> 3M USB, having a few drop-outs

Hi all, just wondering if there’s any actual technical difference with the length of the USB cable from my S30 to DAC. I have previously used an older 1M version of the same cable and had absolutely rock solid service, but just switched to a 3M version based on the distance needed between boxes and for the first time, I’ve had a couple of drop-outs/drop offs. Roon loses sight of the DAC endpoint (Michi P5).

Has anybody else hit issues with longer USB cables? TIA

The USB 2.0 standard says that the maximum cable length is 5m.
In practice, we find 1 - 1.5m to be optimum.
Whats the cable?

thanks Mark, it’s a Wireworld ultraviolet 8. I think the 1M was a earlier generation, seems to be a slightly wider, stiffer casing than the new 3M version I just got. Thought I’d stick with the same because it had been so flawless! Just had another hiccup now, I skipped forward to a point in a track in Roon and it dropped off. It always comes back online pretty quickly, but I’s say it’s pointing to a Roon issue most likely.

Book in a support session if needed:

awesome, thanks Mark, just popped over to the Roonlabs community and there’s multiple current threads about this same issue so I won’t waste your time just yet!
