NZD price for first release k50 upgrade please
@MarkCole Hi Mark, would you be able to share your thoughts on this one? Thanks
Good question, but it might depend on which interface one uses. The upgraded K30 might gain the edge over the original K50 if USB is used. Eager to hear Markās thoughts.
In my case I use USBā¦
I know everyone wants a definitive list, but comparisons are too hard TBH.
What I can say as a two computer USB only device the K30 is killer with a smallish library.
The K30 actually gets a pretty neat upgrade, the two boards were run off one power supply, with the new power supply, it will have two rails suppling the power one for each board, gets both server and player engine upgrades and USB and footers, I think we priced it too low, but there is less labour compared to a K50 due to internal layout.
Definitely not too low
Just placed an order for my K50 Mk 2 update via the UK dealer.
BTW
When it comes back from the factory will it look any different?
Thereās a difference on the back panel between Mk 1 and Mk 2 but how do you recognise a Mk 3?
If they look no different from a Mk 2 , could the factory add a label on the back to say its been upgraded to Mk 3 status with a date?
They do look different as the latest MKIII unit now has 3 Oladra style footers. The MKII had the same 4 small pucks (one on each corner) as was fitted to the MKI.
Thanks, good point.
Hi Mark,
Looks like those new footers will add to the height
Whatās the height of the Mk3 K50 compared to the Mk2?
I want to know if itāll still fit in my rack.
Hi Mark. This sounds enticing! Will the K30 have 2 power supplies after the upgrade? By player and server engine upgrades do you mean both computers will be replaced? Will the usb be more secure fitting as well? Thanks.
No the boards arenāt replaced, they get the same updates as the the rest of the line-up.
We have modified the USB from the original K30, all models have this now, and added an adjustable clamp mechanism to the inside of the USB connector, this assists with the cable fitting.
The list isā¦
Installing the OLADRAās triple-cascade power supply technology in the K Series models.
Installing our proprietary high-quality isolation footers on the K Series models.
Upgrading K50, K41 and K30 Server engines with innovations used in the OLADRA.
Upgrading the Player engines for the OLADRA, K50, K30, K22 & K21.
Installing new USB outputs for the OLADRA, K50, K30, K22 & K21.
Also I commented incorrectly previously on the Ground Post, it is our intention to give OLADRA and K50 a dedicated Grounding post, maybe a delay on OLADRA however.
They will look different, will get a new label and serial number to differentiate.
Height of a K50 is 141mm
Thanks for the grounding post.
Bump @MarkCole @antipodes
Have you missed my post.
No, I donāt think we stated that we prefer USB out.
I use USB at home, I like to experiment with HQPlayer, PGGB etc so for high bit-rate, the USB is a real alternative to I2S.
The performance has certainly lifted, and running say Pro USB on a MSB DAC the high quality 5v really makes a difference.
All outputs on OLADRA, K50 and K22 get a boost from the player engine upgrades.
When my K50 goes back to the factory to get upgraded to Mk 3 status, should I remove my SSD before shipping it?
@MarkCole did I miss read this?
So the Player upgrade makes the difference as stated by @antipodes the USB comes up to S/PDIFF ?
USB after the upgrade is on par with the reclocker outputsā¦
Assuming the new footers on the latest K50 are the same as those fitted to the Oladra then those footers are roughly 3.2cm tall. Adding the height of the actual K50 casework minus the current feet (110mm) brings me to a total height of 142mm at best guesstimate.
Obviously the exact heights of the new K50 footers will need to be confirmed by Mark Cole.
