Antipodes for Naim Streamers

I have a Naim streamer/DAC (NSS 333) and would like to pair it with the K41. I understand that the K41 can act as my Roon core, and the Naim streamer can be connected directly to the streamer output and will be seen as a Roon endpoint. That’s all great. I was wondering if it’s at all possible to use squeeze in this setup. The Naim streamer is also a UPNP endpoint but I have not been able to find any information on whether the K41 configured with Squeeze has any plugins available that will allow it to see my streamer as an endpoint?

Antipodes Audio offers a number of solutions that can be used with Naim.
As you have pointed out, set the K41 as Roon, and it acts as Roon server for the Naim Roon Ready device.
Also, MinimServer and MiniDLNA are readily available solutions available in the AMS Dashboard for UPnP.
Squeeze server has a UPnP plugin that also can be enabled to be used with the Naim.

Thanks for clarifying that’s very helpful.

I am also in the Naim family. My source is an NDX 2 (with XPS DR power supply).

Recently I purchased a previously enjoyed K40, and I am enjoying this set-up:

Modem > Network Acoustics eno2 system > K40 > Network Acoustics eno2 system > NDX 2.

I am using the Squeeze app. In my system, the Squeeze app sounds better than the Roon app.

I am still using Roon a my controller/user interface.

The “Direct Stream” output on the K40 sounds fantastic!

This weekend (thanks to my dealer) I have been playing with power cables, and the Swisscables power cable (‘Reference’) sounds very good with the K40. It sound natural and airy.

How long is the included direct stream cable for the K41?

Hello,
I was wondering if you could give me some advice, regarding the Antipodes Audio K41 server.
I own the same 300 series Naim Audio system as yourself. I also have a Naim Uniti Core, which is connected to an English Electric EE8 network switch. This is powered by a Farad Super 3 power supply. I also have a Roon Nucleus Rev. B. I have also previously owned a Innuos Zenith Mk III and PhoenixNet, which I did not feel was that much better than the Naim Core.
Looking to condense non Naim units and the Antipodes Audio K41 seems to fit the bill. Unfortunately other Antipodes units do not connect simply to Naim, except for the K41 direct stream.
So can I ask you the following:
(1) What did you have before the K41?
(2) Do you use the Cd ripper software on the K41 and how does this compare to what you previously used, or do just i.e. Dbpoweramp?
(3) If using the Antipodes Audio ripping software, what Cd ripping transport do you use.
(4) When using the K41 do you just use Roon, or Roon and Squeeze?
(5) Does the direct stream connection, give a boost to the sound quality?
(6) Depending on what you used before and what you heard on demonstration i.e. Innuos. Do you think the K41 represents value for money?
(7) Do you feel the K41 is a good match sound quality wise with the Naim 300 series?
Sorry for all the questions, but the nearest dealer is at the other end of the country. If you can think of any more helpful information, it would be kindly appreciated.
Kind regards,
Mark

The K41 was one of the most significant updates to my 300 system. I use it as a Roon server and it beats any other Roon server I have on my network, including the Nucleus. I wasn’t expecting much initially since it’s only a server not a renderer, but somehow the difference is night and day.

I’m not using CDs so I don’t have a lot of ripping experience but I know Antipodes recommends (or sells maybe?) a specific transport for use with their servers.

Regarding how this is used, you cannot use Roon + Squeeze with the Naim streamer as it’s not a squeeze endpoint, only a Roon endpoint. However, the Naim 333 is a very very capable streamer. It’s a great match with the K41 imho and I have not found another server that provides such a lift (I’ve tried innuos zen and it’s not in the same league at all, minimal differences if any). I would recommend one of the better shunyata cables for direct stream ethernet between K41 and Naim. I found the Alpha and Sigma made a significant difference for me. I preferred the Alpha. Sablon 2020 was also another great choice that I tied and kept, tamed the highs a bit better.

Hi Andy,
Thank you very much, for taking the time to reply. I presume you could use one of the UPnP Server apps, to also play to the 333. If I’m correct it would not be straightforward to get K22 or K50, to connect to the 333. Have you heard a K22+K41 or K50? Did you feel your were losing anything to the K41 and 333?
Kind regards,
Mark

Yes you can use any of the upnp apps if you prefer to use the Naim app for browsing and playing local music. I use Qobuz so that’s not a good solution for me, I prefer Roon.

The K41+K22 are the same as a K50 in two boxes. When using K41+K22 I was using the K22 as a streamer(squeeze) and K41 as the Roon server. The result is a different presentation to K41+333. Not necessarily better or worse, but different. And certainly much more consistent across Naim firmware updates.
