Antipodes K21 streamer

I’m getting my first Antipodes tomorrow
Hope it’s not too difficult to setup

Congratulations. I didn’t have any issues with mine a few years ago.

Just follow the guide and it should be pretty straight forward. Good news is if it is not, the Antipodes support model is fantastic.

Thank you much, I’ll check this out in the morning
Can’t wait, but I also realize it take a few days to burn in

Antipodes claim around 200hrs, however, I found it was burnt in After 150. Very noticeable change from start to finish

If I recall it was stated more like 400 hours, but of course 90% of the change happens in the first 200 hours, as component burn generally follows an exponential decay graph, similar to residual caffeine in the human body, but arguably with more ups and downs along the way.

But let’s get it from the source again and see whether that number is still agreed upon: @MarkCole??

Good news is it is pretty easy to just let it play 24/7 with other components off, if those are tube gear that of course is advantageous.

Most importantly the servers should always be left on, as it is also reported it takes upwards of 2 days for the unit to stabilize.

Is it ok to use the streamer and do file transfer at the same time?
I’m trying to put some time on the unit and realize it won’t sound the best doing both

Thanks

I never notice any impact to sound quality when files are copying over, but I am usually using Squeeze. If you use Roon, background audio analysis can harm sound quality. It looks like it can be scheduled though. See this:

Thank you I am not using Roon I might give it a shot after the unit is broken in.

Try a free trial, but my advice is save your $150 per year for Roon and get Jplay for $50 instead: Jplay sounds better.

We’ll see what the new options may be when the G5 (if that is what it is called) update happens.
