Received an email from Audirvana, advising of a new update:
" An upcoming software release from both companies will soon include Audirvāna linux core player app. So Audirvāna will run directly in their music servers and network players.
Owners of the Antipodes Kala or Oladra or 3D Lab Nano models will therefore be able to choose Audirvāna to manage their music and play it directly from their server.
They will control it simply using the Audirvāna Remote app on their smartphone or tablet."
Does this suggest that a new version of AMS is nearly ready to go?
It mentions current models but will it include previous models (eg S30)?
Will this be another setup choice (like squeeze, hqplayer, mpd etc ) for a different sound or just a remote control app?
Yeah, I got the email too.
Audirvana just debited my annual fee, so I’m good to go-
once the software updates…
Here’s to a fun Christmas playing with all the settings
Audirvana pulled the trigger a bit early there.
We are indeed an Audirvana partner.
Audirvana won’t be available on Antipodes Audio Music Servers until mid 2025.
This is all part of a much larger software project.
If this changes we will make the announcement here.
I poked around on their website and learned that they have a Linux version. The Core Player app “embeds all Audirvāna’s exclusive technology and features. This includes the audio player itself, the entire library management suite, as well as integration of partner HD streaming services, online radios and podcasts*. So as is, it is a combined Player plus Server app. It sure would be cool if it could be split so the audio player itself can run on a separate Player engine with everything else left to run on the separate Server engine. I imagine that might give even Squeeze a run for the money as far as sound quality.
I saw a post today on another forum from Peter Lie (posts as wklie), LUMIN Firmware Lead, that newly released App firmware, 18.1, features Plays with Audirvana. The post indicates they will be gradually rolling out to all their models back to 2012. One of my DACs is a LUMIN X1. I checked the LUMIN App and it did offer update to 18.1. I checked X1 on the App after updating and do not yet see Audirvana option for the X1 settings. It will be interesting to evaluate this when it becomes available for Antipodes. Peter Lie also stated they will be able to supply a free 3-month trial of Audirvana by user emailingi info@luminmusic.com with subject “Request Audirvana trial code” and state your Lumin model . Hopefully, we will be able to trial Audirvana for our Antipodes as well. It appears to me Audirvana is aggressively expanding its market. The X1 is a Network Player with DAC–no server. I use MinimServer on my KALA50 to serve to my X1. Lately, I have been experimenting with using USB from the X1 as digital out to another of my DACs, the Mola Mola Tambaqui card in my Makua. The sound quality is very good doing so. I am using the USB output on the KALA50 to another DAC in the system, which also sounds very good. I love all the options and commonly switch through the week, including DACs as well as DAC inputs, server options, and player options.
How does one access a player that includes Antipodes Audio, Audirvana, and Qobuz? I now use Antipodes and Qobuz together, but I could not access Audirvana in the integration of the software programs all together, so I ended my subscription with Audirvana!
