sorry Mark, but this connection does not pass through the K50 player but goes directly from the server. So you lose the optimizations of the player: correct?
You don’t need the K50, just the K41

I have had a MSB Premier with Digital Director for a week and am very happy with the HDMI output into the i2S module in the Digital Director. I can’t compare to another connection but the i2S is super quiet, clean and musical. I am very pleased with it.
Sounds great with ROON but even better with JPlay / MinimServer / MDP.

Finally got the unit, very happy with it!
I have a small issue with the I2S cable I purchased however:
When using the Pink Faun I2S cable there is no sound output for PCM based music (DSD works fine) - when using in a generic HDMI cable both PCM and DSD work.
I’ve made sure the MSB DAC firmware is updated and the I2S module settings are set to Antipodes, I also made sure the DIP switches on the K50 are set to MSB standard.
Should I just return the cable or is there a way to make it work do you think?

Have you set the dip switch on the underside of the Antipodes?
You can test it with any HDMI cable
Yes I have. It works correctly when using a generic HDMI cable, I’m having issues when the using the Pink Faun dedicated I2S cable (linked above) - not sure if the design of that cable is not compatible with this setup or they a way to make it work?
I cannot confirm or deny on the Pink Faun I2S cable, not tested.
But since a generic cable works, then I would go back to Pink Faun
The cable I received has a custom pin layout that didn’t match - they are sending a new with the correct layout so all good! I’m using the Ricable suggested above in the meanwhile and must say it sounds great - thanks for the recommendation
