I do not want to upgrade the K41 to G5. I will probably buy a new Antipodes server sometime in the future, but not yet.
Any upgrade is totally up to the owner, what we try and do is offer everyone the opportunity to keep pace with our latest developments and technology
Question 1: Will I stick with AMSv5.0.1, or will there still be updates?
There will be updates, likely 3rd quarter
Question 2: Can I expect to use the K41 as a Roon Core for years to come without a G5 upgrade?
Sure, but we have no control over what Roon may do in the future, and what may be required hardware-wise to support the ever evolving landscape of software development, what I can say is we will continue to support all our products as we do now, within the capabilities of the hardware
Hi Mark Cole, I know this question is a bit premature, but I’m also currently undergoing a digital transformation and want to switch back to USB. I really like the new Kala 50 G5 and its current “less is more” concept. One USB port, and that’s it. The option to add AES/EBU is certainly interesting for many. I also like the SSD storage options. My library is manageable, so a 4TB internal solution is sufficient. I have a few questions about this. I currently own a K50G3. Will the G5 generation upgrade remove all synchronous digital outputs except USB and the optional additional synchronous digital output (if desired)? I assume the G3 isn’t designed to be upgraded to the G5, right? Would it therefore make more sense for me to sell my G3 to someone who’s upgrading to the G5 and still has all the digital outputs available? So that I can plan accordingly, could you please give me a price for the Kala50 G5? An approximate price? USB only, 4 TB internal SSD library.
Maybe 3 new models?
Its seems the Oladra Core is purpose built computer, like JCAT did, and Kala will continue the traditional model of finding the best sounding hardware and optimising AMS and PSU for best synergy.
And a new switch! Touche to JCAT, Innuos and Taiko!
I have a K50 G2 and I’m interested to upgrade it to G5, is this possible?
I’m a fan of NOS dacs with tube outputs, these are unfortunately mostly limited to coaxial and AES/ebu.
Will these optional output boards will be available for the K50 users or is this strictly to Oladra users?
I like the idea that my „new“ K 41 G 4 (2024) will go on a long journey to New Zealand to get a G5 update and come back with even better sound quality .
I own a La Rosita streamer/DAC and the device has travelled to Grasse in southern France to its developer Dan Bellity maybe 4—5 times. It started with AirPlay as an Omega and is now a GammaHD with a sole LAN input and the latest updates to the DAC and the output stage. After every journey sound quality was better.
The K41 is the perfect device for my needs (roon core, already 2 4TB ssds nearly full, direct Ethernet output).
So I am looking forward to G5!
