HQ Player Problem

Uwe061 got this problem two years ago:
I need help setting up the HQPlayer. I want to run it as a player together with Roon as a server on an single Antipodes EX (Oladra upgrade). After selecting the preset “HQPlayer with Roon Server (Auto)” in the Solution Dashboard and adding the HQPlayer on the iPad, I click on “Open” in the Solution Dashboard to configure the HQPlayer. However, the “/config” page cannot be opened and I get the error message “Safari cannot open the page “192…:8088/config” because Safari cannot connect to the server “192…” every time.”
What am I doing wrong? Many thanks for your help!
Best regards from Berlin, Uwe

I have it now with windows. What is to do?
Kind regards
Kurtt

What software version is your EX?

Back in Feb 2024 we advised that with AMS v5+ Signalyst removed support for non-AVX devices for HQPlayer Embedded.

An EX cannot run as a standalone HQPlayer device, it can run NAA which is the player.
HQPlayer Embedded is the server side and requires a CX or above.

Hello Mark,
it‘s a brandnew K21 .
Kind regards
Kurt

And I have got this problem at this K21.

Hi Kurt, the story is the same, the K21 cannot run as a standalone HQPlayer Server/Renderer
it requires a K41 to do this

Hello Mark,
thank you for your answer. And is it possible to use HQPlayer as player and Roon in the server section of the K21?
Kind regards
Kurt

Hi Kurt, no that is not possible as to run HQPlayer in that configuration HQPlayer Embedded is required.

Hello Mark,

I know that the HQ Player embedded is required.
I have sent you two screenshots to illustrate the problem.
Picture 1 is the configuration of the K21: HQ Player with Roon.
Picture 2: the error message when I try to configure the HQ Player.
Greetings Kurt

Hi Kurt, no that is not possible as to run HQPlayer in that configuration HQPlayer Embedded is required.
As mentioned HQPlayer Embedded is required to run in tandem with Roon on the server side to get ROON+HQPLAYER, the K21 cannot run HQPlayer Embedded as Signalyst removed support for non-AVX devices, which the K21 is.
The reason that pre-set is available in the menu is that the PLAYER is used to config both server and player, so when a K41 is attached the K21 sets all parameters for both devices.

I say again, HQPlayer is not able to be run on a K21 unless used as a NAA device to and Embedded server.

Hallo Mark,
thank you very much for your help. It is ok for me , running the K21 online with Roon Server and Player. But I don‘t buy the K41 now. It is a little bit tricky of Antipodes to follow such a policy of business.
Kind regards
Kurt

HQPlayer software is not made or developed by Antipodes Audio, we have no control over when a software company changes support for devices.
This information was released on this forum at the introduction of AMSv5 software back in Feb 2024

Further, the technology section of the K21 product page states:

The KALA 21 employs a single computer to perform both the Server and Player stages, with state-of-the-art USB signal processing.

The computer power limitations of the KALA 21 mean it can not be used for DSP or to manage libraries over about 8TB, whether on internal or external storage. For the same reason, HQPlayer Server cannot be used on the KALA 21.

Used within its limitations, the KALA 21 will sound as pleasingly musical as a KALA 50, but the KALA 50 will add layers of musical insight to the performance on a revealing system.

I’m sorry you cannot use the K21 as a HQPlayer server, but we have been as clear as we can.

Dear Mark,
thank you very much for your help. I think, the K21 is a great musicstreamer and it sounds wonderful with the Roon player.
Have a nice das.
Kind regards
Kurt

Kurt I have the K50 G4 and have been trying to use HQ embedded for the last 3 to 4 years and have found the computing power in the K50 not quite up for the task . The unit gets very hot to a point that I was concerned and Mark suggested I try a different setting of HQ player . Mark also seem to agree that the use of HQ player and the K50 are not a match made in Heaven —

Definitely not as far as DSD scaling. They match up well though if one opts for PCM scaling.
