K21 / Aqua La Scala II Optologic via USB not recognised in dashboard

Dashboard isn’t recognising my recently purchased (2nd hand) Aqua La Scala II Optologic via USB. No audio output is displaying in dashboard hence no music.
The La Scala was demoed before purchasing connected to an Antipodes S30/S60 via USB & was operating OK.

  • My iFi Zen Stream running Roon (installed on my Mac) works with USB into the Aqua no problem
  • The K21 (MPD/Minim & Jplay) into the Denafrips Pontus 2 works OK.

I’ve tried booting both units up/down in different orders etc, pulling power cords, using different USB cables & resetting the network router switches etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I assume you have set the output to usb (not digital) on the dashboard?

The output drop down has 2 options “none” & “No Available Outputs”. Neither options work. The K21 only has USB out.

Your DAC needs to be seen as powered up when your Antipodes boots. If you’ve already tried that then your best bet is to book a support session with Antipodes.

Does the Aqua DAC have its own switch for different connections for AES or USB?

Hi,

you need first power-up completly your DAC and than your Aqua La Scala.
They are using a standard USB 2.0 audio interface, should be easiley recognized by Antipodes.

I also have sometimes issues, if by accident didn’t turned on my DAC first, it will not be recognized by my K22. Restart in proper order!

Rgds,
Gerald

Problem solved; Turns out either the dac or K21 (maybe both) is sensitive to USB cables. In the end I tried 4 in total & 2 worked. A Supra & generic cable failed, Wireworld & Audioquest were both recognised in Dashboard. Cheers

A truly great DAC, enjoy and don’t be afraid of tube-rolling.
