K22 Sound Quality as Roon player only?

Hello all! New to the forum and trying to understand the best Antipodes configuration for me…. I already have a Roon core (Nucleus One). Would the sound quality be better if I just ran a K22 as a player with my existing Nucleus, or should I move the Roon core to the K22? This would be going into a Mola Mola Tambaqui over USB.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Welcome to the forum! Great choice for a username.

My two cents: The best configuration for you is what your ears tell you that you prefer. Everyone’s ears and systems are different so best to try both configurations.

I would also encourage you to try Squeeze as you may find you prefer it to Roon.

Thanks Kenny! I was hoping for there was a universally known best configuration but happy to test it too! Thanks again for taking the time to reply!

Hi!
That dac probably has a good clock on board. With a k22 it would be a nice experiment to try spdif against usb. In my case (Chord dac) the antipodes reclocker lifted the sound quality quite a few stories up!
I have a Nucleus One and an s30 and it sounds better with the Nucleus as a core and the s30 as a player, in stead of the s30 as a core/player.
The only thing to keep in mind is that you might need, like I did, a good Lan-isolator and a switch between the two when you experience a groundloop through the ethernet connection and the two power supplies (Nucleus and Antipodes) connected to earth. The groundnoise consists of high frequency hiss and other sounds depending on the use (scrolling through Roon and so on), maybe only with your ear close to the speaker but cutting the groundloop at the ethernet cord ( between Nucleus and switch) can increase overall sound quality with the Nucleus. I consider the Antipodes as high end upstream and keep the Nucleus as downstream, close to the router, as possible.
