K30 NOS vs. K22 > What sounds better / more future proof?

,

Question > I have an opportunity to purchase a NOS K30 or a Dealer Demo K22 for my system - price is equal for each. The K30 is a 2020 build (not sure whether it’s a G2 platform or not) while the K22 is presumably a G4 system.

For context: I have a very small ripped CD library and am predominantly streaming Qobuz via Roon for playback. I also don’t anticipate using DSD upsampling or DSP functions much with Roon.

Would the K30 sound better given it’s running separate player/server boards? Or would the K22 sound better being a newer device? Would either path make more sense in the long run?

Really appreciate the feedback! Excited to be part of the Antipodes community

I would go for the later technology - G4

This is an excellent question and something I’ve wondered about. But having said that, the G4 upgrade of a K50 was so significant that I would be inclined to recommend the K22.

On the other hand, the G5 upgrade is coming and the K30 will be eligible as I understand it. Nothing has been said yet about what to expect with G5, but there’s a possibility that a K30 G5 will beat a K22 G4.

I don’t think you could go wrong with either option.
