Hello,
I have a Quloos MUB5 R2R DAC/Amp that I have connected to my Antipodes EX by USB. In the Antipodes EX software I have selected HQPlayer and as USB output I have selected the Quloos MUB5 R2R DAC/Amp.
HQPlayer is Desktop on PC.
This Quloos MUB5 can support Native DSD 512 but I have not been able to achieve this using the Antipodes EX only 256DSD and not Native which the dac supports.
When contacting the HQPlayer developer he has suggested that the issue could be down to the Antipodes EX needing Kernal driver support and to contact Antipodes for Advice and possibly a driver update to correct this.
Can you please tell ne if this is achievable?
Thank you
Nathan
The DSD handling must be set in the AMS Dashboard.
“None” means that the DAC doesn’t handle DSD; you should set it to Native, so reverting to PCM is as designed with None set.
@MarkCole I do have the EX AMS dashboard set to Native so that is not the issue what else is causing it not to play DSD256 Native and DSD512 Native is it not the EX Driver like the HQPlayer software developer suggested?
The “none” part I wrote is revering to a setting in HQPlayer and not the EX Dashboard.
It’s a bit of a challenge to follow how you are explaining your issue. Taking a guess here.
It appears from the screenshot you shared that Jussi was only responding to the choice of “none’. That setting has the same effect as the kernel driver appearing to not support DSD, because setting to none tells the driver to not support it,
That you’ve been able to play DSD256 - I think - proves that the issue isn’t with the kernel driver.
There could be a number of reasons why DSD512 won’t play. The lack of native DSD support could be one of them. Can you post a screenshot showing where the manual for your DAC shows that it supports native DSD? I could find nothing that confirms this so I asked Copilot:
@kennyb123 It plays DSD256 but not Native I have to set HQPlayer SDM pack to Dop if its set to “none” when I hit play in HQPlayer it reverts from DSD to PCM.
See attached for MUB5 Specs. Thank you
I note in the spec that there is no Linux support for USB
@MarkCole I had not noticed that. Can this be updated to allow this?
The DAC manufacturer must supply USB information so that it can be added to the Linux kernel.
This information is kernel-specific and not added by Antipodes Audio; rather, by the people who manage the releases of Linux kernel updates.
Reach out to the DAC manufacturer regarding Linux support.
DSD256 is supported by DoP but DSD512 is not. It sounds like native issues supported by your DAC.
