Hi all - new to the Antipodes world, borrowed a K22 from my dealer to try through my dCS Rossini setup - loved the sound…honestly didn’t expect the streamer to make as much positive difference as it has, given the in built dCS streamer is no slouch.
Anyway - the initial use case was as a server to replace the Roon Nucleus + I’ve been using for a few years - but using the streamer functionally (via AES) is what tipped me over the edge to get my wallet out.
May have been asked before:
My offline music is on an SSD in the Roon Nucleus + - do I literally just take this disc out and slot it into the K22? (I can’t remember if the Roon box keeps its OS on that disc or elsewhere) and - again, sketchy memory - do I just restore a backup of the Roon DB from my Nucleaus + onto the K22 to get all my playlists back?
Thanks for the help - and pleased to be here in the community!
Yes - it’s been a revelation really. So much clarity and separation, but actually just a lot more musical too - but obvious improvements in pace, rhythm and timing (once a Naim head always a Naim head, even though I’m Accuphase now!)
Tell me - do you use the clock from your Rossini to clock the K41? …I think that’s possible, but I’ve not done it yet.
…and what connection do you use? …I’ve got a transparent reference AES that seems to work well, but had a good experience with a CAD (Computer Audio Design) USB when I tried that on a Melco streamer I borrowed, but didn’t buy.
Ahhh - I’ve checked the back of the k22 and it looks like an output.
Would be nice to have an input I guess - to keep the whole digital chain locked - especially as the Rossini clock has a “spare” - but appreciate it’s an edge use case.
