Does anyone have experience using a Network Acoustics Muon Pro between Antipodes CX and EX? Currently, I connect both directly with a Siltech Ethernet cable. I’m wondering if there are any improvements to this…
I cannot speak to using the Muon Pro for the CX and EX. I use it between my switch and the Oladra, it does reduce noise and improve sound.
You might need to share which Siltech ethernet cable you use. Because really what you are seeking is a comparison between your Siltech cable and Muon Pro. I’d say in most cases changing cable between CX and EX will make a difference, that connection is not immune. I have found the Direct out of CX is not as good as other solutions, such as connecting both CX and player to a good switch.
Thanks for the reply. It’s a “Classic Anniversary Silver-Gold Network Cable.” I think it’s the entry-level cable and about five years old. I’m thinking about buying a Muon Pro (not the whole streaming system), and then I’ll still need the Siltech.
I’d be surprised if Muon didnt make a difference.
On a tangent, it might be worth considering a good switch (of similar value) instead, if you dont already have one. That might be a challenge, because it would benefit from a decent power cord, and provide better value with seperate connections to CX and EX thereby needing another ethernet cable.
For anyone in the UK, I am having a big change in my test bed systems and a Muon Pro plus associated cable will be available at a good price . . . .
I tried the Muon Pro system including their Ethernet cable late last year as the dealer said it was a great seller and works really well on high end systems.
At the time just upgraded my existing Diablo 300 to the Essence Pre Power amp and expected good things having read numerous reviews across the board.
Listened to my system over a 14 days and thought it had made a tangible difference however when I removed it and connected my existing SOTM CAT 7 cable I actually preferred it. Did a number of further tests and TBH it made zero difference in my system.
Clearly the SOTM which has a quality filter is a very good Ethernet cable as I did a lot of research prior to ordering.
Obviously there are so many variables such as location, property type etc.
I also tried at the same time a couple of 3K Shunyata mains cables which were to put it bluntly were the worst cables I’ve ever had robbing my system of detail and made the sound muffled.
Thank you for your feedback! Based on your post and other feedback, I’ve decided not to buy the Muon. All my cabling is from Siltech, and I’m very happy with it.
Best regards from Berlin, Uwe
That’s a wise decision as cables can make or break a good sounding system, I was using the excellent HiDiamond out of Italy which are the best natural sounding cables -tried everything from Audioquest, Townsend and the top Tellerium Q Statement which were all too bright as they all use silver. Currently use Jorma Unity out of Sweden which are breathtaking albeit quite an investment but worth every penny in my opinion.
