I am experiencing a sample rate switching issue on my Antipodes OLADRA running AMS v5.0.1, specifically when using JPlay as a control point with either Squeeze or MPD/MinimServer.
The Problem:
• The first track always plays perfectly at its correct sampling frequency.
• Once the first track finishes and the next track starts, my DAC continues to display the sampling frequency of the first track, regardless of what the actual sample rate of the new track is.
• Consequently, the subsequent tracks fail to play on the DAC.
What works:
• This issue does not happen when I use Roon. With Roon, the DAC switches sample rates between tracks seamlessly.
Has anyone encountered this sample rate locking issue with JPlay on AMSv5, or does anyone know a workaround/setting adjustment in Squeeze/MPD to fix this?
Interesting, I found out that this sampling frequency lock problem only happens when the format of the tracks change between M4A and FLAC. No such problem for Roon.
It is difficult to summarize what’s go wrong with my JPlay/Squeeze setup, I have no sound ouput when I stream from Tidal after paying a local file. It is annoying, I will use Roon for the moment…
Thanks for the tip on JPlay with MPD/MinimServer. I actually ran into a similar sampling frequency issue with that setup too. I haven’t checked yet if it has the same issue as Squeeze when switching between M4A and FLAC, but I can confirm that Tidal streaming is definitely problematic when JPlay is running on Squeeze via the Oladra.
I’ll do some more testing when I have more time, but for the moment, I think I’ll just sit back and enjoy the Oladra with Roon.
We experience no issues with Tidal playback via Squeeze/Squeeze, check your DNS settings in the router, change to Google or Cloudfalre DNS if possible.
Clean your library in Squeeze with a clean re-scan.
