Oladra play with the new generation

hi
is the oladra play stream music by itself or is still need roon etc.
thank tou

Oladra arrives with the configurations of the image that I attach installed. The one with the border highlighted in yellow is active.
Lyrion is the “old” Squeeze, DLNA is the “old” MPD.

Any Hqplayer or NAA?

Not for now! There are those three… and the Roon - Squeeze combination is no longer supported…

That is a bit unsettling. What version of Lyrion are they using?

The following is from the Presence web page. That they split Oladra off into its own entity likely allowed them to break from the past. It’ll be interesting to see what makes it over to Kala.

I just hope that the reason they’ve been so quiet is because a lot has been going on behind the scenes and server sales have remained strong.

I wonder if the promised AMS upgrade will still proceed or if the new play software will become the standard. I sure would like a hqplayer v6 upgrade as the v5 version doesn’t see the newer v6 naa. An upgrade to Lyrion v9 would be appreciated before we get left behind by some plugins. I see sonicorbiter has been upgraded and contains easier software package upgrades. I wish they would just use it. It had better functionality imho before antipodes redid the front end.

Wild guess: the new Play will become the standard, but the Play we see on the current Oladra was just the “minimally viable” version with just enough of the capabilities to ensure a successful launch of their new servers. If this was all it was going to be, we’d likely have it already.

Yeah assuming of course that Lyrion hasn’t advanced to v10 before we get the next Antipodes version.

It looks impressive but there is no excuse for such a bland user interface with AI now being so good at generating that stuff. When you see v9 of PGGB and the corresponding updates to the PGGB website, you will see what I mean.

Can you give me an example of the audio chain for the live version. Please assume the following components,

  • K50G4 ,roon or squeeze server, your choice player or Synology nas, minimserver (licensed)
  • available Mac mini m4 or mbpro m4
  • chord tt2 (prefer pcm upsampling)
  • PGGB V8 pro, perpetual
    Thanks
  • K50 running MPD as player
  • Mac mini M4running PGGB v9 - with Live set to stream 16FS to MPD

As far as source files, the Qobuz app running on your Mac mini would give the best experience. PGGB v9 will include the PGGB Bridge. Qobuz can be set to output to this. The music then streams into PGGB, gets upscaled and then sent to MPD. Qobuz running on phone or tablet can control it playback of Qobuz running on your Mac.

You can also have PGGB play music files off your NAS. Last I tried it, the experience was similar to HQPlayer.

Thanks Ken.

Does it link to minimserver? LMS? Maybe with a upnp bridge?

This sounds exciting.

Come to think of it, I did have it playing through Squeeze with a UPnP plugin enabled. Only PCM played smoothly, I think up to 16FS.

Posted today by the PGGB developer:

“But PGGB V9 will also accept input from a UPnP control point, so you could use a player such as VeraVox/Foobar/Audirvana/Jriver to play to PGGB and that player can be on the same PC, all the player is doing is transferring the file to PGGB.”

Thus, I imagine one could use JPlay to browse MinimServer on Antipodes, “play” a song to PGGB on a Mac mini, which in turn would play it to Squeeze on Antipodes.

Thanks very much. This will be exciting and I believe he said it will be free upgrade to v8 users.

That is correct. Also interesting is that v9 will include endpoint software that can run on flavors of Linux. This will be somewhat like the NAA that HQPlayer offers. It would be pretty amazing if this were to end up in a future version of AMS or the software that replaces it.
