Power cable on K22 G4 - Test

I have always had Chord Company Signature X power cables on my K22G4 and K41G4 ever since I got them about 10 months ago.

They are coming out of a Chord Company PowerHAUS power strip / Sarum T power cable system.

I did an experiment and swapped back in the supplied power cord - one at a time.

The K41 stock power cord didn’t last long, it was a very easy to hear downgrade. The bass had much less impact/tune, and was also slightly a smaller soundstage.

Back to the Signature X it was.

What I didn’t expect was absolutely zero discernible sound quality difference with the stock PC vs the Signature X on my K22.

I went back/forth 5/6 times and if there was a difference with the more expensive Sig. X, I just couldn’t tell.

Anyone else notice this, that the K22 is more immune for whatever reason to a better power cable when used with a K41 ?

I assume my PowerHAUS / Sarum T kit would negate to a certain degree the better power cord requirement on my Antipodes components.

For the K41 - absolutely not- the Sig. X is obviously a better power cable to me and it’s staying in place but the K22 is clearly not - in my system/room/my ability to pick up a change.

I did this check as I need to sell one or both power cables to find another upgrade soon - a Network Acoustics Origin PSU upgrade.

In recent years I have never tried a stock power cord but within the past few years I’ve discovered the magic of Cerious Tech Lumniscate power cords as regards specifically ANYTHING digital. A bit pricey but inexpensive compared to many not nearly as unique. The musicality these power cords reveal is simply stunning with anything digital such as a DAC, music server, player, or CD transport. I have one for my K41, K22, as well as my Lyngdorf MP-60, CD transport and even my all digital MXA-8400 multichannel amp for HT. For my Accuphase Class A amp It was overkill so went with their middle of the road cord.

Thanks for that, however I can’t get this cable with my country’s power plug.

I have actually decided to keep my Chord Sig. X and have moved it to my Chord DAVE and like it there.

It’s more open, smoother but with a bit more resolution/air and bass is a bit more tuneful as well.

I honestly cannot tell a difference with the cable on / off my K22. It’s a mystery as to why, but that’s what I hear.
