I generally like the Random Mix feature. It is great for breaking in equipment, and often re-exposes me to forgotten gems (ok, there are also the occasional jarring juxtapositions). But I have noticed something odd when Random Mix follows streaming something from Qobuz.
When the Qobuz song/album/selection ends, Random Mix kicks in and as far as I can tell, follows the genre determined by what was streaming. However, the mix is far from random. I get a pattern something like; song from band A, song from band B, another song from band A same album, another song from band B same album, yet another song from band A same album and another song from band B same album. Then a completely unrelated song from a third band. And then we are back to bands A and B.
It isn’t the most annoying thing in the world, but the Random Mix behavior when I have been streaming from my storage has a completely different more random behavior. I don’t get it because if the Random Mix pulls from my storage in either case, the behavior should be the same, shouldn’t it?
Has anyone else experienced this or have an adjustment that might make a difference? This does not happen every time after streaming from Qobuz, but seems to maybe have an association with the first time I stream after clearing out my history within the Antipodes software. When I have a longer history of songs built up the Random Mix feature seems to be more regularly random. It may also have something to do with quirks in the Qobuz metadata but I’m just guessing here.

Maybe nobody else experiences this? In any case, I’m attaching an image of the kind of Random Mix I am getting in these situations, as much for the team at Antipodes as anyone else. Again, this is a minor quirk and may be idiosyncratic to me.
Prior to this random mix I listened a Sara Watkins LP and then one by Watkins Family Hour via Qobuz. I don’t know how Qobuz lists the genre for these two, but Discogs has them as bluegrass/folk. Since I assume Random Mix uses genre mostly (it seems to after I play from my library), I would expect the mix to be more of the same. But the metadata genre for the songs shown here are Alternative & Indie. So there is that oddity. And then the repetition?
