Squeeze doesn't play 705.6 kHz files

I’m doing some tests to see if it’s worth using Remastero PGGB to upsample the files. My tests revealed that using Squeeze as the player and Roon as the server, 705.6kHz files are downsampled by Squeeze to 176.4kHz. Using Roon as the server and player, everything works fine. The problem is, I’d like to use Squeeze as the player and I don’t know what to do to fix the problem.

Roon thinks that Squeeze can’t support PCM frequencies above 192k. You’ll have to select Roon/Roon to play these or just use Squeeze alone as that’s the best way to hear upscaled files.

Thanks for the reply, I also read around that you could use the C-3PO plugin, but I have no idea how to do it.

The need to use C-3PO went away when AMS v5 was released. (Or maybe before that. I can’t recall).

I have always tried to use Squeeze/Squeeze but I find the management of large libraries terrible.

Hi Luigi, we are bringing a new software solution to the market soon to address such issues. I will let you know when it’s ready…

As I mentioned, I find Squeeze the best sounding, so I use it only to play my favorites - and all of them have been processed by PGGB. For everything else, I switch over to Roon/HQPlayer. The sound quality differences are apparent enough that that I find that I want to spend more time with Squeeze. I find it a breeze to navigate it as I’m so familiar with it.

I hope I am allowed to say I have been given the opportunity to try a ‘not quite ready’ version of this software solution with my Oladra (the software uses Squeeze/Squeeze and therefore benefits from that superior sound quality). All I can say is I am impressed and think it will be worth waiting for when it is ready.
