SSD Advice. High prices

Hi everyone,
I bought a Samsung PM893 SSD a few years ago. It was mentioned to be the best SSD for the Antipodes. It is somewhere on the support forum here. Today I want to extend my system with a second identical SSD, but found because of market conditions (high AI demand) they are now 3 times more expensive.
Any suggestion for alternatives would be highly appreciated

Thanks
Richard

I agree, prices are through the roof. Even for the more common Samsung EVO 870 SSD is 3X more.

Yes, this global situation is impacting everyone. Costs are ridiculous.

We would advise that, as a replacement for the PM893, any enterprise-grade SSD should give the desired performance.
However, likely, the costs of these are also elevated, fall back option is the EVO/QVO range.
Failing that, a NAS. A properly set-up quality NAS can give great performance.

Hi Marc,
Hmmm, I already use a NAS as music storage, and I was interested in a K41, in order to further improve « sound » quality… but the ssd-situation does not encourage me to go the musicserver route… about 500€ for a 4TB Crucial SSD… how shoul one « implement » music from a NAS to an Antipodes server as the K41? Installing Minimserver on the K41 and configuring the path to the NAS?

best regards
Lefreck

See the section titled “Include Files on NAS”: AMS Guide

Once you do this correctly, all server apps can access these files as if they were locally stored.
