Upgraded to AMS 5.x - lost ability to play DSD from foobar2000 to K50 with MPD Player

Hi

Is there an an easy way to check the mpd.conf file?

Prince heroically upgraded my system to v5 last night and the majority of the features I use are working better than before.

One thing that is not is an ability I had to stream DSD from my PC running Foobar2000 to the K50 set to MPD with MiniDLNA, which then correctly took that stream and outputted it to my DAC as DSD (DAC only accepts DOP).

I have tried all the various Foobar SACD / DSD plug-in settings to get this working and while Foobar plays out the DSD file - the only way to get it to play out via the K50 on my DAC is to set it to DSD+PCM in Foobar and then it will play the DSD file converted to whatever PCM sample rate is selected in the Foobar plugin

Not what I am looking for - frustrating as I had this working. Any thoughts and advice very much appreciated

Why aren’t the DSD files located on the K50? Seems like an unnecessary step to bother using Foobar.
If they are on the K50, any installed software can play the DSD files, such as Squeeze, Roon, and UPnP.

DSD Method can be set to DoP in the AMS Dashboard.

Hi Mark,

I hope you are well

Foobar2000 is the program I use for all the playlist and song / track management.

I rip CDs, download tracks from Quobuz etc all onto the PC and from there with Foobar 2000 build playlists, clean up song meta data etc.

All of that is then for the most part, once polished and ready to go, copied onto the local storage for the K50.

However there are times when I want to be able to playout from the library and WIP playlists on Foobar 2000 to my main system which is fronted by the K50. The frustrating thing is that it was working fine in terms of the MScaler picking up the DSD track correctly.

If you are saying that the DSD toggle on the Solution page updates the mpd config file (which would make sense) then perhaps that is not the issue.

The only reason I want to eyeball it is that when I went to engage MPD with Minimserver there was an error.

I wanted to check that the mpd.config file is having the changes written correctly when selecting DOP to exclude that from the fault finding process

Many thanks

Not an answer you want to hear, but tossing it out any way. Seems to me like the inability to play songs via Foobar>K50 is a blessing in disguise. I think you will position yourself for much better sound quality by fully migrating over to the suite of apps on the K50.

I think your odds of finding another Antipodes owner who is using Foobar the way you are using it with your K50 are about zero so not sure if anyone can help.

You mentioned both MinimServer and MiniDLNA. Which is it? Do these work as expected when using to play from local storage on your K50?

Understand, Foobar isn’t something that we support.

With Minim did you launch Minim from the AMS Dashboard to accept terms and conditions?

Hi Mark, there was an error, but an unrelated reboot seemed to have fixed that and then it was a case of pointing MinimServer at the music directory and now it seems happy, thank you
