Antipodes Audio AMSv5 Release Information

Ok thanks
Good news.

Could we expect another step up in audio quality with this update with the old generation K50?

@Vampat It’s hard to answer your question directly, but it seems very likely, though limited to the hardware.

Oladra review & Interview with Mr. Mark Jenkins, Antipodes CEO and founder (SoundNews ; December 2024)

CC: Are you planning to venture into a software solution? Can you develop your playback solution with sound quality as a primary objective and Tidal/Qobuz streaming in mind? And if so, would it be possible to push such a software update on existing machines?

MJ: Yes, yes and yes. I wish that software development was as easy as that question was to answer, haha. We are progressing on all those fronts, but we emphasize the fundamentals first. We have been very focused so far on defining the user experience, using innovative ways to remove pain points, as well as laying a foundation for superior sound with our operating system. We are not in a hurry, and nor should we be with a project like this. This is by far the most extensive single software development program in our history.

The only impediments to rolling the software out to existing machines are if it requires increased processing power or if we need to rely on a specific chipset feature. If so, we will offer our customers ways to update their hardware, but nothing like that has arisen yet. I wish I could tell you more about what we have underway, but one thing you learn with software development is never to make predictions. I will say that I have a hypothesis that would involve a radical change to how music servers work, which ought to sound dramatically better, that can only be tested by building our own playback software.

@Vampat I am confused by your question, are you not on the AMS V5 yet? this is the information from my K50 G2:

**"Hello, I am stuck at version 4.4.0

**

Book a support session and they will upgrade it for you.

Super support/help from Prince of Antipodes this morning via booked support/Anydesk and my oladra EX and CX stack is running 5.0.1 nicely. Remind me again why getting into Antipodes products had been a blessing. Thank you Prince and Mark !! Richard

What’s the difference between ver 5.0.0 and 5.0.1 (I’ve had 5.0.0 since it came out)?

Hi Celts88,

No clue … resisted AMS upgrade since running fine and read of numerous expected initial issues but swap of ports reportedly corrupted the SW and had Prince via support appt nicely upgraded.

Learned something else, cx running almost 2x faster than ex during upgrade with already upgraded RAM via oladra upgrade … each really serves different functions and liking this stack more with the careful consideration on respective functionality some 6 years ago on then TOTL solution separates :+1:

Cheers.

That message from Mark was March 2024 and still no sign of the new update 1 year later.

I suppose good things come to them who wait

Indeed, the software is an ongoing development project.

v5.0.1 does fix some issues with v5.0.0 and also gives new Squeeze versions.

We are happy to update the existing v5.0.0 to v5.0.1,

Hi Mark, I only use Roon Server/Squeeze Player, will the v5.0.1 update improve sonics? I have no problem running the current v5.0.0. Thank you.

It’s best to get the latest version of Squeeze.

Will it be much longer on the new software release as I am currently on v5.0.1 and having issues with HQPlayer?

I have no ETA on software, what are your issues with HQPlayer?
