Tidal FLAC limited to 44.1khz?

I cant use squeeze, my endpoint is Devialet so the only options are roon to Devialet AIR or roon to roon ready. I use roon ready, its sounds better than the purist AIR. However there are other way to skin the cat. My CX Oladra has Telos Macro Q USB and Synergistic Research Tranquility Pod Carbon, fuses and Atmosphere UEF Level 3 power cord with Gailleo tuning bullet. And all used ports capped. It upsamples to 24/178 or 192, the Devialet further upscales to 40bit 384kHz. Actually its a pair Devialets so that upscaling is for each channel! The connection to the Devialet is via EtherRegen, Shunyata Sigma and battery powered WAP to provide wifi to Devialet (ie. No wire to transmit noise). I wont go into the rest but needless to day its all very revealing, sometimes unpleasantly so.

I am hearing the guitars, both of them, as guitars, clearly not double bass. Plenty of nice stuff going on except I get a tiny bit of distortion about 1:50 thanks to the whistle sounding synth.

Diamonds … all clean and clear, really fleshed out soundstage.

No doubt they could sound better. Tweaking your setup might get roon sounding pleasing for you. Squeeze trades off functionality for SQ, roon seems to be working on improving SQ by say improving the efficiency of the programming that provides its functionity. There seems to be other ways to reduce the noise further than that.

It is my understanding that Devialet also uses UPnP so you could utilize MinimServer or MiniDLNA on the CX and apps such as JPLAY etc

Your are correct Mark, that was in the back of my mind as a less easy option compared to roon and Squeeze. I just havent turned my attention to it because, until recently, there wasnt anything comparable to roon UI, but now JPlay is.

Hello. Interesting system you have. I’m sure it sounds great. But I’m sorry. Roon sounds really bad. I’d even say that the Roon sound has gotten worse again. So no progress, more of a step backwards. I tried it again yesterday. After Roon Server/Roon Ready, Squeeze again. Roon has no chance against Squeeze. I won’t adapt my network to Roon. Roon can adapt to us. Squeeze sounds perfect with my network. I remember Roon sounding completely different a few months ago. Currently Roon sounds pale, foggy, thin, extremely withdrawn and without any tones. With the help of Roon/Squeeze and Roon/HQPlayer the tones are coming back slightly. But it sounds muddy and bloated. Currently Roon is the worst thing I’ve heard.
